Iftikhar Chaudhry refutes Imran Khan’s allegation

ISLAMABAD: Former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, on Tuesday refuted the allegations of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan about involvement in poll rigging, SAMAA reported.
The PTI chief has announced a campaign against last year’s election rigging. He accused the ex-CJP and an influential media house of helping the ruling PML-N emerge victorious in 2013 elections. Today, the former chief termed Khan’s allegations as baseless, while addressing a gathering held in the memory of those martyred in Islamabad F-8 Kachehri blast. “A chief justice has nothing to do with general elections. It was Election Commission of Pakistan’s duty to appoint Returning Officers to perform election duties,” said Iftikhar Chaudhry. “I don’t like to comment on anyone’s senseless views,” he said. He said a strong foundation of democracy has been laid in Pakistan which is not facing any threat.
